I have to refrain from putting dragons and/or cats in every picture. :)
This was my first attempt at a couple of things. First off, the dragon was actually made separately, then imported into the scene (see the dragons face close-up (800 x 600px) by clicking the button to the right). I originally made the dragon to see just how much detail I could get out of the model with the new upgrade I had just downloaded. I was also trying to make his eyes glow (they are the same brightness no matter how much light or how little light there is in the scene) which you can't tell from this picture, but you can from the close-up.
Second, this picture is actually viewed from below the ground level of the scene which I had never tried before, but it made the castle look so much cooler and realistic.
At first I first had our moon in the scene, but I decided to place a NASA texture of Uranus on it instead. I'm not crazy about the way the moon turned out as it looks like a separate picture and the scenes lighting doesn't reflect the color of the moonlight. Everyone else seems to like it though, so it's still there. This scene originally started as an experiment in "volumetric lighting" (IE: rays of light through fog), but I grew frustrated and gave up on that aspect until a later date. |
